What kind of architecture projects does Maiz & Diaz Arquitectos work on?
The studio works mainly on residential architecture. Its published portfolio comprises 99 projects: 46 multi-family residential developments, 35 villas, 12 single-family homes and 2 hotel projects.
Which areas of the Costa del Sol does the studio work in?
The published projects are concentrated in Benahavis, Estepona and Marbella, with work also in Mijas, Malaga city, Casares, Fuengirola, Almunecar, Torremolinos, Sotogrande, Rincon de la Victoria and Velez-Malaga.
Do they work with developers on new-build schemes?
Yes. Multi-family housing is the largest category in the portfolio, with 46 developments. Counting only the projects where the number of units is stated, the studio has designed more than 2,680 homes, from schemes of 10 units to phased developments of more than 200.
Have they designed villas in La Zagaleta?
Yes. The portfolio includes 7 villas in La Zagaleta (Benahavis) and 16 villas in Capanes, as well as projects in Los Flamingos, Monte Mayor, Guadalmina, Altos de los Monteros, Nueva Atalaya and Reserva de Alcuzcuz.
What are their largest residential developments?
Among the largest published are Litoral Beach (368 homes), Riviera Hills (215 apartments), Royal Palms (203 apartments in three phases), Maralto (163 apartments in Las Mesas, Estepona) and Varadero Essence (125 homes).
Do they work with BIM?
Yes. The studio has an in-house BIM department, used for modelling projects and coordinating architecture, engineering and site supervision.
Do they design hotels?
It is an occasional line of work within a mainly residential portfolio. The two published hotel projects are the 5-star Aman Hotel La Alborada and Hotel El Fuerte.
Which of the studio's projects have won awards?
Royal Palms I, in La Cala de Mijas, won the Residential Developments Spain category at the European Property Awards in 2023. Villa Arcadio, in La Zagaleta (Benahavis), won Best Residential Property Spain at the European Property Awards 2016-2017; it was entered into the competition by Drumelia Real Estate. Both appear in the studio's portfolio.
How much experience does the studio have?
Maiz & Diaz Arquitectos has been working since 1998. It was founded by the architects Miguel Maíz Córdova and Jesús Díaz Merino and is based in Marbella (Malaga).
